This project focused on the steel detailing of an energy building for an industrial processing enterprise. The structure was multi-level, designed with OSHA-compliant staircases and platforms to ensure both safety and efficiency. While the main framework was straightforward, a small but critical OSHA safety connection had the potential to disrupt the entire process.
The Challenge
Steel detailing is more than just creating drawings—it’s about anticipating potential issues before they become costly delays. Everything looked good on paper, but one OSHA-required safety connection could have been overlooked. It wasn’t a structural issue, but without it, the erectors wouldn’t proceed. This could have led to on-site modifications, delays, and additional costs for the fabricator.
Our Expertise
We made sure the OSHA-required safety connection (§1926.754 and §1926.760) was part of the design from the start, not an afterthought. This ensured compliance with fall protection standards and kept everything running smoothly. By working closely with fabricators and erectors, we provided clear shop drawings that helped avoid last-minute fixes and kept installation on track
The Result
Because we tackled the issue early, the project stayed on track without delays. Erectors had everything they needed to move forward smoothly, avoiding unnecessary revisions and extra expenses.
This project reinforced a simple but important lesson—proactive detailing saves time, money, and stress. By identifying potential roadblocks before they become problems, we kept the entire process running smoothly, from fabrication to installation.
