The Challenge:
Our challenge was to model the new opening on the floor of the existing building and integrate the staircase. That required exactly positioning all beams within the modeling software so everything could fit. Also, the client’s original design specified a woven wire mesh, which presented one challenge. We built a framework with angles to support the flexible mesh. This helped to keep its shape, balancing beauty with strength.
Our Expertise:
Our team’s experience in detailing steel structures gave us a clear vision for this project from the start. By combining our modeling skills with installation insights, we detailed a staircase. It reflected its complex geometry and provided adaptable framing for the guardrails and mesh. This flexible approach lets the fabricator choose the best installation method. They can either assemble the guardrails and mesh in the shop or weld them on-site.
The Result:
Our team’s expertise in intricate miscellaneous steel detailing is clear. The staircase integrates perfectly into the existing building. We provided the needed floor opening and built strong support for the guardrails’ wire mesh. It fit without any gaps and maintained its strength. The result is a stylish, functional staircase. It fits the refurbished office’s design, satisfying the client’s aesthetic and structural demands.
